10" Disston & Sons Philadelphia No 7 try square w/ bevel blade in handle

Description: You are bidding on one 10" Disston Number 7 try square with the little bevel blade that stores in the handle as pictured.It is marked "HENRY DISSTON & SONS PHILADA USA" on one side of the blade, and owner "JHL" stamped his initials in the handle as shown.Blade length is about 10", measured from the tip of the blade to the near side of the handle. It is graduated in 8ths on the upper edge of both sides of the blade. Condition of the handle is good, with some remnants of the original black japanning or finish remaining. It has spread apart at the far end of where the bevel blade would store. The bevel blade moves easily.Condition of the square blade is good, with a few little spots of rust, and quite a few scratches, some random, but many from a prior agressive cleaning. The blade has a gentle bow if you sight down the upper edge as shown. Condition of the bevel blade is good except for the rust visible along the edges. It has a blued finish. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early.
