Description: A bit ago eBay began a new program to "increase the visibility" of seller's items for an additional %age of an items final selling price...that's on TOP of the regular 12.5% Transaction fees (and postage is also included). Sellers can end up paying TWICE the fees as before. The program is optional but NOT using it means that your items aren't advertised or "seen" as much and so can't compete with other sellers. I've had $5 sales where combined Transaction & Promotional fees have been up to $3 (over 50% of my profit!). The $2 left doesn't even cover what I needed to pay for the item originally in 99% of the cases not to mention boxes, bubble wrap.. It's particularly hard on small-time sellers for whom high quantity sales aren't an option to make up for the loss per item. As such, I'm choosing not to use the Promotional listings for most of my listings or to promote at a very low rate.
