Really nice ladle, solid sterling silver cup and handle tip, over 12 inch ebony-colored handle with silver tip. Ladle is 4 1/2 inches to top of stem, cup is 2 3/4 inches diameter, 1 inch deep. 15 inches from handle tip to cup joint, 17 inches total. Hallmarks in center identify it as made by Mitchell & sons (M&S in center) Sterling Silver (rampant lion, upside down below M&S) in Glasgow, Scotland (town symbol, an oak tree with a fish across the trunk, and a bird, to the right of M&S) in 1823 (serif'd E in shield, tip pointing down) and a bust of the monarch George IV? (monarch head and shoulders side profile above M&S) handle material maybe whale bone? appears to be hollow, has several quite small areas natural imperfections in material in thin shaft and near tip.
