NEVILL-SMITH Click images to enlarge Description VINTAGE FRAMED ARTIST SIGNED WATERCOLOR Lovely vintage framed under glass hand painted watercolor measuring 22-3/4" tall by 14-1/4" wide - actual image is about 15-1/2" tall by 8" wide surrounded with a deep cream matte. Featuring a peaceful scene of what looks like the Australian outback, a tall cabin and fence are dwarfed by the tall Cypress trees set against hills and deep blue mountains. Signed H. NEVILL-SMITH in the lower right corner, condition is very nice with a bit of age related tanning to the matte and some rubbing and loss to the beaded edge all around the frame - does not detract a bit. Original framer's label is still attached to the back - paper dust cover is brittle with age. Nevill-Smith has beautifully captured the shadowing within the rocky mountains, lush trees and colorful landscape. Artist was born in Australia, but painted in Hawaii before moving to California in the 1930s -- guessing painting dates to that era.
