Description: 1931 cover from Newton Centre, MA to Liepaja, Latvia. It is postmarked with a cancellation clearly reading May 13, 1931 (departing Boston, MA) and eight others with what appears to be May 22, 1931 (showing arrival in Liepaja, Latvia). It appears that the envelope may have been inadvertently opened by the post office in Latvia, and it is sealed and marked in the selvage at right and left sides. There is also some hand-written notations on the back, perhaps explaining the mistake. It is franked with one 5c (Scott 637) stamp. This cover is an unusual and scarce piece.
