Though Whitney deliberately disregards his coach's game plan, he scores the winning points for his team. A short time later, Joe, heeding his mother's advice, decides to forgo a career in professional football and enter medical school instead. Joe's decision is met with the swift reproach of his girl friend, Marian Rutherford, who has been dreaming of living off a high-paying football salary. After Marian leaves Joe, he changes his mind about medical school, and signs a contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Joe and Marian eventually reconcile, but Marian soon falls in love with Whitney, who has also signed on with the Rams. Whitney, however, has fallen in love with Joe's sister Ruth, and sends her a television set so that she can watch his games. A short time later, Joe's mother, who has been kept ignorant of her son's return to football, discovers his secret when she sees him on television playing in the big Rams-Packers game. During the football game, Mrs. Nolan watches in horror as Joe is injured because of an unfair play by Whitney. Whitney is later fined for the violation and told that he will not be allowed to play in the big East-West All-Stars game. One day, Joe sees Marian leaving Whitney in a taxicab and concludes that she is secretly dating him. Joe calls off their engagement, but Ruth clears things up when she explains to her brother that Marian and Whitney were merely escorting her to the airport. Joe telephones Marian and apologizes, after which he makes amends with Whitney. Realizing that Whitney is still upset about having been excluded from the East-West contest, Joe decides to feign an injury during the game so that the coach will be forced to send him onto the field. The ploy works, and Whitney brings his team to victory.Cast & CrewJean Yarbrough DirectorSam Nelson Assistant DirectorRichard Crane Don WhitneyGloria Henry Ruth NolanMary Stuart Marian RutherfordJohn Litel Coach SnyderPat Phelan Joe NolanJoseph Crehan Coach MillerHarry Wismer AnnouncerTom Harmon AnnouncerBob Kelley AnnouncerSammy BaughPaul ChristmanJohnny "Zero" Clement"Boley" DancewiczBill DudleyPaul Governali"Indian" Jack JacobsSid LuckmanCharles TrippiSteve Van BurenBob WaterfieldRegina Wallace Mrs. NolanSyd Saylor Television manDooley Wilson PorterVincent Farrar Director of PhotographyJoseph Carole Orig scrDon Martin Orig scrSam Katzman Producer Additional DetailsMPAA Ratings: Premiere Info: Los Angeles opening: 23 Sep 1948Release Date: 1948Production Date: Col-16mm*; LCP FQA 2199-2202Color/B&W: Black and WhiteDistributions Co: Columbia Pictures Corp.Sound: MonoProduction Co: Columbia Pictures Corp., Kay Pictures, Inc.Duration(mins): 70-71Country: United States payment must be made within 48 hours of winning the bid. paypal is preferred method, will also take you know what with prior approval items will ship approximately 3 day after payment received shipping is 4.00 no refunds or returns
