Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. What is perhaps the richest apiary in the US and the only one atop a skyscraper is operated by LH Hartman President of an advertising firm. On the terrace outside his office atop 50 Rockefeller Plaza he has an apiary that yields an annual crop of more than 100 pounds of pure honey. Mr Hartman keeps bees as a hobby and does not sell his honey but puts it in small jars as presents for friends and clients. From his office Mr Hartman can see little but the stone and steel of the citys buildings. But his bees go farther afield winging their way around the skyscrapers high above the citys noisy traffic to Central Park where they gather nectar and pollen from the many flowers. They then find their way home to store the honey. Jack Eydeler Comptroller of the Advertising Agency and Custodian of the Bees removes a comb from the hive. In his right hand is a smoker used to waft smoke over the bees to quell them.Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 10-28-1948.
