It's my favorite and so the main lettuce I grow here. It is multi colored red and green. Very Tender with weight to it so it's not paper thin. It has a sweet mild taste to it and it's just out of this world lettuce for salads and sandwiches. Lettuce can be hard to grow or stubborn but not Red Leaf Lettuce. It is the easiest to grow and the best lettuce for a beginner. Sow early in the Spring and soon as the ground can be worked. You can also grow in the late/end of Summer into the Fall. Avoid frosts although lettuce can withstand light frosts but not so much for hard frosts. I start mine indoors and plant two seed per pot. The birds like to eat the seed if you plant outdoors. Plant 2 seeds and cover with 1/4" soil and keep top moist. I transplant them when they are about two inches or look strong enough to be on their own in the garden. If I get two plants that germinate, I just leave them both together they will grow up together just fine. Days to Harvest: 65-85 Tips: Fertilize the soil and keep moist. Lettuce likes sun and water but does not like heat like 85 degrees and above. Packaged in a labeled zip lock bag in "COLOR"" coded seed envelope.
