We used camping, hiking, 4 wheeling, and shopping while on vacation. The 2 main talkies are the ones with the (M) logo on the back clip. Those are the only two that can send calls from the middle call button. All of them are tested and work. Have to push the orange button on the side to key up and talk. They are all connected as long as they are on the same channels. The volume turn knob is on the top. Takes 3 AA batteries for each talkie. Has an earphone jack on the side of each talkie.
