This would have hung as a tapestry on the wall ~ It's a very whimsical painting and was most likely painted with the chateau owner's heraldic shield ~ Dating is is difficult, I'll estimate the 1950's ? But really , it's rather a stab in the dark! The bottom says something like " xxx for my domaine" I can't make out the first word but it appears to be a signature ? ~ One in a million find!~ Measurements: This gorgeous wall hanging measures approximately 80 inches by 83 inches ~ the oval painted area measures about 70 inches long at the longest by about 50 inches wide at the widest ~ CONDITION : This textile is in great condition!~ the sides of the linen are aged with age marks along the side edges ~ otherwise it's in amazing condition.
