Description: This is a signed letter by Ilka Chase (1905-1978),an actress and novelist who was well known for her appearances on radio and television. She also appeared in more than two dozen movies, mostly in the 1930s. Her last filmappears to have been Ocean's 11 (1960). She also wrote two popular volumes of humorous memoirs, PAST IMPERFECT and FREE ADMISSION. This is a small letter, about 7.5" by 5",in very good condition. The letter is dated December 26th, 1944. It is typed on a sheet of Ilka Chase'sstationery, with her New York address printed in red letters at the top (333 East Fifty-Seventh Street). The letter is addressed to "Dear Cedric ". This man was Cedric Crowell (1889-1955), a publishing executive who worked for Doubleday and for the Heritage Press.The letter mentions his wife Hester.
