Description: Wow, What an incredible piece of art on an antique JPL Limoges tray! This porcelain tray has a beautiful painting of bunches of purple red and green grapes and their leaves with a background that fades from yellow into peach into brown. All handpainted on a beautiful porcelain tray made by the premier porcelain manufacturer of Limoges France, Jean Pouyat. The tray is scalloped on the edges and there is gold trim on those edges, and it is a slightly oval shape. The back of the tray is unglazed, and that is where you can see that it is artist signed, Ollie S…. on November 17, 1899. AND it is signed in the front in gold too! (picture #8) Ollie. Could be a man’s name, BUT it could also be short for Olive, a popular girls name then. So a bit of those Victorian times here, a piece of history and definitely a piece of art. The tray is 15 & 3/4 inches long and about 14 & 1/4 inches wide and it weighs 3 pounds 2 ounces. It is in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. Just think, this tray was made and handpainted when Queen Victoria, King Charles’ great-great grandmother was still on the throne in Great Britain! The back of the tray is unglazed and it has gotten a bit dirty over the years, but there are notes and dates and signatures there, so it is important to carefully preserve all that! Please zoom in on the pictures and see the 360 degree view for a closer look. I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and sometimes on Saturdays if I can make it to the post office before they close at noon. Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking!!
