Description: Antique Japanese, Kutani Meiji Period Hand Painted Bowl 7" Late 19th Century Captivating late19th century Meiji period Japanese Kutani pottery bowl. The bowl is 7” in diameter and stands 2 ¾” tall with a base of approximately 3 ½”. This lovely piece is hand painted with scenes of a couple just off the water, trees, and birds surrounding them. The artist has finely detailed and accented with gold. The exterior is painted with plants adorned with small berries or buds. The bowl is glazed and marked on the bottom with what appears to be KU-TANI. (See photos) This lovely piece is in good condition no cracks or chips. There is a barely noticeable glazing flaw on the upper inside area of the bowl (See last photo). There is some wear to the paint but minimal considering the age and remains a stunning and interesting piece of old Kutani.
