Description: Vintage J.B. Hirsch Pirate Sitting On Treasure Chest Alabaster Face Cast Iron Face was cracked and glued back. See pictures. Very heavy piece. Made by the J.B. Hirsch Foundry circa 1932. Made from spelter aka French bronze, which is zinc mixed with a few other metals. This piece is very weighing clise to 5lbs. It's been cold painted to look like bronze. The pirates face is known as Ivorine which is celluloid, an early form of plastic. The interior of the chest is lined with cedar. I didn't realize it was a box until the clerk at GW took it out of the case. Measures: 6 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" long x 3 1/2 wide .
