Description: Hello & welcome to our eBay store. Includes MP3 download! If I were to tell you that a band of NYC teenagers who met in 1979 decided to form a band influenced by Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, Eno, Chrome and released a privately pressed record, it would be enough to pique your interest. When you find out the band consisted of a future Supreme Court Justice for Arizona, a Professor of Slavic Studies, a Musician/Documentarian whose family built the Brooklyn Bridge, and an A-list world-famous actor the story goes from being about another rare, privately pressed recording that's been re-discovered, into something that's pretty incredible. Captured Tracks is thrilled to announce the reissue of Capital Punishment's 1982 sole LP Roadkill. For a band of high school weirdos who actually got their shit together enough to make a completely uncommercial album with no means to sell it shows a lot of determination, persistence and perhaps insanity. But it's always those kinds of weirdos who go on to do great things - just ask Judge Peter Swann, Professor Peter Zusi, Kriss Roebling and Ben Stiller. Ben Stiller started his star-studded career at 15, but little do people know he was also the drummer of a post-punk band when he was 16. Now, for the first time in 36 years, Capital Punishment is getting an official release for its "Roadkill" LP. Joining Stiller in the band is an Arizona Supreme Court Justice, Peter Swann; a professor of Slavic Studies, Peter Zusi; and a documentarian/musician, Kriss Roebling, who is credited as the frontman of the band. Recorded in 1982, “RoadKill” has become a collectible. Original copies sell for $200 to $500. Roebling mentioned in a note that the band sold the album “on consignment to numerous mom and pop record stores around New York, which I suppose is how some copies found their way to listeners who enjoyed it so many years later.“ A very experimental work, the band pulls from David Bowie and Brian Eno as influences and is heavy on the proto-industrial sound with an echo of Captain Beefheart. In an interview on "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2014, Stiller described the band as a “post-punk, neo-goth, urban, experimental band.” He added, “Except we couldn’t play our instruments.” We have been providing great bargins and quality merchandise on eBay since 1999.
