Description: This is an antique lithograph from a book of drawings, SLEEPING PARTNERS, illustrated by Cecil Aldin and published in London, England in 1929. Each drawing in the book is drawn on a light tan background, and bordered by a dark brown border, and then matted in a high quality, acid free matte. TITLE: PROBATION ARTIST: CECIL ALDIN, Signed in plate CONDITION: EXCELLENT / VERY FINE -- The prints in this series are clear, clean and very well defined. No foxing, creasing or folds. A really fine image. Nice clean lines. All prints are blank on the reverse. Colors include light red highlights, tan, brown, gray and black. No pink. This antique print is almost 100 years old and guaranteed to be original. It’s an authentic print from the aforementioned publication, and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION. (Note: There are several reproductions available online, so look closely and read carefully.) The inner dimension of the print (the part showing inside the mat) is 8 1/2" x 6 1/4". Matted, the outer dimension measures 8 1/2" x 11". This is a standard size matte that will fit into a standard size frame—no costly custom frames required. About Cecil Aldin Cecil Aldin, successful in his own time as an illustrator of books and magazines, a painter, and a writer, was born in Slough, England in 1870. His art featured one of his lifelong passions, hunting. Aldin became famous for his watercolors and prints of foxhunting scenes in the English countryside, as well as his portrayal of the dogs, horses, and animals that were the center of these activities. Aldin, whose art has become increasingly popular over the years, is especially appreciated today for his special talent drawing dogs. Aldin, like Lucy Dawson, was able to capture the true character of the many dogs and breeds he studied. Aldin's talents, greatly appreciated by his contemporaries, resulted in a wide array of collectibles available today that bear his famous dog and farm animal images.
