Last two images show a lot of 11 freshly-collected and cleaned seeds being offered for sale. Chamaedorea rigida is a rare cloud forest palm endemic to Oaxaca state in México. This beautiful and extremely rare palm is known from two separate localities in the northwestern and southeastern parts of that state. Despite fairly high elevation cloud forest origins, I have found this beautiful species to be straightforward and pain-free under intermediate conditions. Can handle daytime heat as long as nighttime temperatures cool off. To just over 6'/2 m in height. Visually similar to the more challenging C. rigida that occurs further to the east on the Chiapan-Guatemalan border. Unlike many other desirable species of cloud forest Chamaedorea, not especially susceptible to spider mite infestations, which is a huge plus for indoor growers. Batch shown are a tiny surplus that I generated this summer. Esay to germinate on damp, sterile sphagnum moss. Freshly harvested in early August 2024.
