He is best known for developing the Dubonnet suspension system, which greatly improved the handling and stability of aircraft.Dubonnet started his career in the automobile industry, where he gained experience in engineering and mechanics. In 1910, he turned his attention to aviation and began designing and building his own aircraft.In 1913, Dubonnet invented the Dubonnet suspension system, which used a unique design of interconnected levers and hydraulic shock absorbers to greatly improve the stability and handling of airplanes. This innovation was quickly adopted by many other aircraft manufacturers and became a standard feature in aircraft design.During World War I, Dubonnet served as a pilot and test pilot for the French Air Force, where he continued to develop and improve upon his suspension system. After the war, he founded his own aircraft manufacturing company, where he designed and built a number of successful aircraft.Dubonnet continued to innovate and contribute to the aviation industry throughout his life, and he was widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the development of aircraft suspension systems.
