Description: An Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra really doesn’t need an introduction, but I’ll try my best as this example is painted in the classic Telekom colours. The team used both Merckx Corsa Extra and MXL frames from 1991 until 1995 with decent success in both classics and grand tours events, probably peaking with the signing of young East German sprinter Erik Zabel. The pinks, greys and whites are just right on this example and the quality of the paintwork is superb with this one dating to 1992-1993. There are a few minor marks in places, such as a couple of paint chips on near side stay on the inside and a few at the bottom of the drive side the forks. There is the classic brake adjuster chip, and a couple of tiny marks on the top tube, but otherwise it’s excellent and certainly in fantastic condition to even the most critical of eyes. There are of course no dents, and the Columbus SLX frame offers so much comfort and responsiveness, with a lovely San Marco Rolls saddle and some fresh BBB bike ribbon making the contact point just so. The classic Merckx engraving is found on the fork crown, seat stay top eyes, rear brake bridge and the dropouts both of which are chromed. In fact the drive side chain stay chrome is fantastic along with the fork ends up front. It has a lovely Campagnolo Athena seat post secured with a classic Campagnolo seat binder bolt, but be aware there are a few insertion marks on the seat post, but of course these will not be visible. The Campagnolo Veloce groupset is one of the cleanest I have seen with the classic Monoplaner brake calipers and a lovely set of Campagnolo Veloce Ergo levers. All adjusters free and of course the bike rides fantastically, with what look like recent cables. The Campagnolo Atlanta 96 wheels are straight and true laced wot wonderful Veloce hubs and you can really get a lick on, when these are spinning freely. In summary, this bike it a beautiful example and one that will make the new owner very happy and would look the part in any vintage collection. It’s truly, a bike you will be proud to own! We aim to offer a bicycle part that is ready to fit and enjoy, so frequently, disassemble, clean, re-grease and reassemble, to make sure everything is in full working order. Complete bikes are checked over, and given a service if required, so they are working as they should and any issues will be listed so you the buyer can assess your purchase. Please be aware that complete bikes will need some assembly once you receive them. The pedals, stem and handlebars will need refitting, along with the seat post, saddle and both wheels. If there are mudguards or racks included these will also need to be put back, but there will be nothing that requires any specialist tools and if you are in doubt, we are happy to advise, help or point in the direction of a local shop.
