Description: Just in on trade a well looked after and iconic piece of Japanese guitar making history. This piece is in excellent condition. Owned by folk legend Peter Hames who wrote the song 'Ordinary Man' for Christie Moore, possibly written on this guitar, supplied with the following provenance..... 'Hello, the guitar belonged to my father in law, Peter Hames, who recently passed away. He ran a folk club in Cleethorpes. During the miners strikes he was inspired to write Ordinary Man. He recorded it and pushed the tape into Christy Moore’s hands at the Cambridge folk festival, they became friends and the rest is history.' The Japanese. Pro Martin guitars are really hard to find, this model is almost unique and I doubt there are more than a handful of these in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter! So, this company were actually responsible for idea of the so-called 'lawsuit' guitars that are so often misdescribed to this day, the difference here is that Martin did actually sue the Pro Martin company , and when you play this guitar, you will get to know why! The tone of this thing is phenomenal, especially for a small body guitar. Its based on the Martin OM18 yet doesn't have the predictable Martin tone, there is a bit more sparkle to it courtesy of Japanese ingenuity Also the nut width follows the less common OM18 spec of 1 11/16 Inches or circa 43mm as found, not 1 3/4 inch as on some of the OM18's No real setup work is required, the guitar looks, sounds and even smells amazing! I'm not kidding, so we keep the original vintage vibe and patina. Ships in a period correct case that is probably original to the guitar although it is for a dreadnought shape so there is plenty of room. Professionally packaged for international travel Enjoy!
