Description: Fitch Wray, Listed Artist, Vintage California Desert Landscape Miniature Oil Painting This framed miniature oil painting is a one-owner original Fitch Wray work of art. W. Fitch Wray, 1891 – 1967, is a listed artist and has become popular in recent years with art collectors and gallery collections. These paintings were purchased directly from Mr. Wray at the time he lived in Yucaipa, California close to one of the Southern California desert areas and have remained in the same family since new. Each painting has his initials “FW” in the lower right-hand corner (partially obscured by the frame) and each is ink stamped on the back of the canvas board with his name and address, and states: "Original Painting by Fitch Wray / Noted California Artist”. This miniature oil painting is a California desert scene featuring iconic soaptree yucca trees done on canvas board in the ‘en plein air’ style, circa late 1950’s / early 1960’s. Size: The original frame dimensions are 6” by 7” and the painting dimensions are 4-1/2” by 5-1/2”. Condition: judged as excellent for 60+ years of age; the painting is in the original frame and has been dusted but not cleaned since new. Weight: approx. 4 oz.
