Description: eBay Listings - Newport Vintage Books - The Lone Ranger #1 by Fran Striker Dustjacket Blue Sky Variant DJ The Lone Ranger - #1 Digitally Remastered Dustjacket Only [Book is NOT included] - 1940s & 50s Blue Sky Variant Gaylord DuBois - Fran Striker © 1936 Grosset & Dunlap - Lone Ranger Series High Quality Digitally Remastered Laser Reproduction of Original Dustjacket Circa 1948, the first 3 dustjackets in the Lone Ranger series had color changes to the backgrounds. This dustjacket corresponds to Late 1940s & 1950s Printings of this title with the recolored jacket. This dustjacket is sized to fit all thin printings issued circa 1948 to 1956. We will be offering a selection of several digitally remastered dustjackets Lone Ranger in our eBay listings !! Here is a nice opportunity to enjoy the original artwork while saving on the cost of an original dustjacket. See my listings for more -- several different classic series & mystery jackets available. All digitally remastered dustjackets are shipped in a removable, Brodart or Demco archival dustjacket protector, and ready to place on your book. Due to the scarcity of this dustjacket, I have added an embossed digital watermark to these images to avoid unauthorized duplication. The embossed watermark will NOT appear over the artwork on the front panel. The counter-stamps identifying this as a reproduction WILL appear discretely on the flaps only. Background: In December of 2002, I auctioned perhaps one of the very best complete sets of all 18 Lone Ranger volumes ever offered on eBay --- even now 20 years later!! This set was carefully assembled from a lot of over 70 dustjacketed Lone Rangers selecting only the best quality full red spine dustjackets. The remastered dustjackets offered here are reproduced from this high quality set. About Dustjackets: The dustjacket offered in this auction is digitally scanned from a high quality original at 600 DPI. The master is then carefully restored to remove any minor imperfections. This significantly enhances the eye appeal rather than just offering a color photocopy with flaws. Great care is taken to painstakingly retouch these images with emphasis on maintaining the full scope of the original artwork and preserving the texture and granularity of the original. The dustjacket is then printed on an industrial quality machine -- usually a Xerox DocuColor. This professional color photocopier far exceeds the image quality possible on any inkjet printer, and produces sharper, crisper images and much better color definition (tone, hue & saturation) with pleasing results. About Title: Mysterious, unnamed friend to all in trouble, the Lone Ranger on his magnificent horse, Silver, rides the Western Range. Whn a series of "accidents" threatens to delay the work on the first transcontinental railroad, the Lone Ranger steps in. Alone, he prevents an attempt to wreck a work train, he stops a fake Indian raid on the pay train, rescues a girl captured by a band of Sioux Indians ... Whenever danger threatens, there is this dauntless rider, wise in the ways of the wilderness, and ever astride his superb silver mount. Here is breathless adventure, and a hero already famous for the exploits which have made him beloved to radio audiences. About Formats:: The original Lone Ranger series comprised 18 volumes from 1936 to 1956. Here is another exciting western tale, the Lone Ranger on Silver & Tonto on Scout must outwit the bandits at every turn. There are a few format changes which are useful to collectors in identifying Lone Ranger printings: Binding color: Brown (1-13) 1936-51; Gray Tweed (1-18) 1952-56 Endpage Design: Shootout-Ambush 1-14; Canyon Pursuit 15-18 About Author: Gaylord DuBois (1899-1993), born in Massachusetts was a writer for many comics including Red Ryder, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Sergeant Preston and dozens of other comics, in addition to being the author of 35 Big Little Books. Fran Striker (1903-1962) -- in addition to his famous Lone Ranger books -- was a prolific writer of radio scripts during the 30s and 40s including over 700 Lone Ranger scripts and over 500 Green Hornet scripts. The first volume in the Lone Ranger series was actually written by Gaylord DuBois.
