Description: French Deco Art Glass Ftd Compote Pink Satin Leaf Decor Pierre D'Avesn Cagny Era Click images to enlarge Description I just purchased this vintage French Art Deco footed compote from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The piece is characteristic of the organic designs created by a number of French designers during the 1930's (I believe this was done by Pierre D'Avesn). The compote is beautifully executed with crisp detail to the deeply embossed overlaid ivy leaf and vines design. The pastel pink glass has a satin finish with gloss resist on several of the leaf exteriors creating nice contrast (the color is stronger than it appears in the pics). The compote has a striking presence measuring 7 5/8" high, 8 1/8" across the top rim and 4 ½" wide at the foot. The piece is in excellent condition with no damage, the interior well shows no scratches or wear. This lovely compote would make a nice addition to your collection of vintage 1930's French decorative arts or Art Deco inspired décor.
