GILBERT and ARTHUR SULLIVAN Japanese Opera "THE MIKADO" (or "The Town of Titipu") at the Studebaker Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. ( The Original Broadway production of "The Mikado" opened August 19th, 1885 at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City and ran for 250 performances.) ..... Performed in repertory with "Iolanthe" and "The Pirates of Penzance", the cast of "THE MIKADO" included JOHN BARCLAY, WILLIAM WILLIAMS, FRED WRIGHT, WILLIAM C. GORDON, J. HUMBIRD DUFFEY, LOIS BENNETT, S. SUISSABELL STERLING, BETTINA HALL (who would make her Broadway debut in "The Mikado" four years later), VERA ROSS, GEORGE C. LEHRIAN and PAULA LANGLEN .....
