To do this, Hall - a saxophonist who doubles on bass flute, bass clarinet, and electronics - manipulates sounds, offers snippets of the voice of Burroughs, and reads his own inspired writings. The results are astonishing, as ambient sounds meet cut-ups and raucous jazz in an effort worthy of the master to whom it pays tribute. It doesn't hurt to have trombonist Roswell Rudd as the primary soloist on most of the fourteen tracks, aided along the way by assorted guitars and percussion.
