EGGMAN(1954-2018)Jack R. Eggman was a third generation Arizonian. As a descendant from copper miners it is not surprising that this mystical metal believed to have healing properties has become a sacred, identifying factor in his art. His interest in art started at the age of five. After being educated in the Tucsonschools and serving in the army, he attended Pima Community College, where he majored in art. Eggman concentrated on monotype prints, which are done in ink. His creations reflect his interest in primitive art, cubism, and emphasize tones, color values, and color combinations. In addition, Eggman incorporated animals, birds, flowers, and figures in his works.A monotype print is a unique work of art, and because only one impression is pulled from a plate, each print is an original. Eggman painted his images on the plate by using his fingers, a brush, and a cloth. When the image is completed, print paper is laid on the glass and then hand-rolled. It is at this time that the element of change intrudes; the final design on paper is determined not only by the artist's concept, but by the amount of ink used, and the pressure applied by the rolling.
