This committee, withMayor Gregory acting as hono-rary chairman, will meet inMarch to select the “sister city”and to iron out various problems.The chosen town will be similarto Kingsport in size, industriesand interests; and visitors, ideas,gifts, letters, and materials will beexchanged between Kingsport andher “sister.”1 The idea of a town affiliationoriginated after World War n,when Dunkirk, France, was helpedby its namesake, Dunkirk, NewYork. Afterregistration the first day, practicerehearsals began. A concert onSunday climaxed the rehersals.The clinic was composed of twobands: the Blue Band directed byColonel Carleton K. Butler, andthe Red Band directed by Dr.Wilbur Hintor. John Falin, play-ing baritone, was the only D-Bstudent in the Blue Band. SusanHaggitt, flute; Dan Ross andBrenda Durham, clarinets; JackWindle, alto saxophone ; JonMoore, bassoon; and Mike Stone,tympany were members of theRed Band.Music selected for the Blue Bandincluded “Le Grognard,” by Ga-briel Pares; “Madame Favart,” byJacques Offenback; “Francesca daRimini,” by Tchaikovsky; “Slavon-ic Dances,” by Dvorak; “An Amer-ican in Paris,” by Gershwin; and■Here Comes the Band,” a marchby George Willcox.
