Description: Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman is one of the most well known poetry collections in Americana Literature; this particular edition published by the Modern Library with woodcut illustrations by Valenti Angelo. More than likely published in the 1940s based off the particular modern library emblem used but as there is no dust jacket, it is not possible to confirm that for certain. There is a previous owner gift inscription dated 1972 so from provenance, we can identify that as the absolute minimum. Second signature on the title page. Some dings and scuffs on the edges of the panels. Corners are still relatively sharp but there is wear to the actual cloth of the binding. Internal pages are browning and the poem index has some fading. Page edges are toned and the top edge is stained black which has faded to a little more of a grey, some small scuffs and stains on the bottom edge. Binding and hinges appear to be in good shape. Small stain in the top of the joint between the spine and the front panel. Page # 423 Item Dimensions: 8.12"x5.5"x1.25" Please read the full description!
