Description: I will include an SD card containing a full digital recording I made from this acetate. Total duration is approximately 12 minutes and 48 seconds. This is a one-sided 12-inch acetate that I discovered a few years ago during an estate liquidation. The recording features 5 or 6 performances, though I cannot recall the exact number at the moment. Each short piece is introduced by a man speaking in French. There is no audible audience noise, which suggests it was a private recording, as stated on the label. The envelope containing the acetate was addressed to Bill Morton, care of the BBC. This raises the possibility that it might be linked to the same Bill Morton who had affiliations with the Doctor Who series. Regarding Maria José De Vine, very little is known about her apart from her role as Monika in Gian Carlo Menotti's opera The Medium. Composed in 1946, The Medium is a two-act opera that explores themes of deception and the supernatural. De Vine's performance in the opera stands out, but there is no significant record of her career beyond this role. Her limited visibility in historical records makes this acetate an intriguing artifact, especially given its private nature and potential historical context.
