Description: Awful Disclosures of Maria Monk As Exhibited In A Narrative Of Her Sufferings , During A Residence Of Five Years As A Novice And Two Years As A Black Nun, In The Hotel Dieu Nunnery at Montreal. With Additional Information And Confirmation. To Which Is Added, The Nun; or Six Months' Residence In A Convent by Rebecca Theresa Reed. Wow! This copy dates from around the 1870s ...the preface is dated 1836. The book has obvious antiquity but is still in good condition. The hardcover is all intact with a sumptuous deep blue cloth which is frayed in places along the edges and corners. There are a few small bleached marks. There is softening to either end of the spine with fading to the colour BUT it all feels quite solid. The gilded lettering and decoration is bright against the deep blue cloth. The binding is holding the book together well. Inside, there are some gorgeous illustrations, especially to the frontispiece The pages are clearly printed. There is light tanning with a few foxed spots but nothing to impair the reading experience A lovely old volume to handle and read Please see our photographs for further evidence of the book's condition We do not use stock pictures nor AI description .
