Description: On offer is a rare herring fish container of functional pottery from the celebrated ceramicist Marianne Westman from theDalomline. Dalom pieces are typically designed with wreaths of green leaves with alternating blue and red stylized citrus slices that adorn the pieces. This jar also has an approximately one-inch band of blue glaze around the top and a smaller 3/4" band along the bottom. Marked Dalom 1 and has the Rorstrand Sweden stamp on the bottom. These pieces were unglazed around the bottom and it does have some typical staining. The teak lid fits securely and is in nice condition. Marianne Westman worked for the Rrstrand factory from 1950-1971, where she enjoyed tremendous success, becoming renowned for her whimsical, light-hearted household pottery designs.Her creations were so wildly successful both domestically and abroad The herring container has been gently used and well-maintained, making it a great find for collectors.
