Michael Raburn Regarded as one of the industries leading Master Printmakers, Michael Winslow Raburn is know for his original prints and his oils on canvas which hang in public, private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Born in McAlester, Oklahoma in 1951, of Scottish, English, and Native American decent. Raburn grew up in more than a half dozen cities in the Midwest. He received his BFA from Emporia State University in Kansas, then went on to do graduate work at Emporia State and Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he continued to study painting and printmaking. In 1979 he founded Telos Graphics Workshop, which was later to become Cimarron Fine Art Studio, and has recently formed PrintMakers Fine Art. His prints and paintings were produced and marketed by the studio and found a broad audience through out the United States, with one man exhibitions in New York, Houston, Texas, Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as group exhibitions, like the New York Art Expo, and the L.A. Expo. His work gained the attention of the Winn Art Group and in 1986 signed a five-year contract with the nations largest publisher. In 1991 Raburn left Telos Publishing set out on a new venture to develop new printmaking techniques and advance his artistic direction. The results are a more mature and sophisticated image that is reminiscent of his ancestor Sir Henry Raeburn of Edinburgh, Scotland. The 19th Century portraits he created of the leading families and aristocracies hang in museums through out Scotland, England, Germany, as well as the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Winslow Raburn's landscapes capture the brushwork style and use of light that his famous ancestor was so well known for. The subject is different and the 200 years has passed, but the common passion for painting is evident. Raburn has painted professionally for more than 20 years and has sold many originals as well as thousands of prints and posters worldwide. His works hang in nearly every major corporate collection in the United States. They include American Airlines, US West, Salt River Project, McDonalds Corp, IBM, Xerox, Baylor College of Medicine, City Bank, the Industrial Bank of Japan, and many others.
