Description: This is a beautifully-bound and slipcased edition of the very first Sandman comics authored by Neil Gaiman. It was published by Vertigo in 2006. Neil is of course known for his bestselling novels like AMERICAN GODS and NEVERWHERE. He got his start, however, with the amazing resurrection of the Sandman character, and he truly made it his own. This is a huge book – 9” x 13”, with 610 pages, almost all in full-color. The binding is black leather with a ribbed spine and it comes encased in a striking slipcase. This book appears to be unread – therefore, I would call it Fine condition. Neither the slipcase nor the leather binding have any flaws. Finally, as I’ve said, this is a truly hefty book. It weighs 7.2 lb. The Media Mail rate for shipping within the US comes to $12 (with insurance). A Note to this and my other auctions: a close friend died late last year. He and I had worked in book publishing together for many years, and he was also a true collector. His family has asked that I represent for sale these books and comics from his collection. The collection is voluminous, and my friend was an editor for the DC books and the Star Wars books while a Senior Editor at Bantam Books. Most of these titles are in Fine condition. I would say that most have never been opened for reading. I will be posting new auctions for this collection over the next few months.
