Description: This is a slotting guide for various types of guitar nuts such as bone. Perfect for guitar builders or DIY hobbyists, maintainers/technicians, or for the seasoned professional luthier. ** This listing is for the nut guide only and may come in different colors. ** Nut guide options are listed in the selection menu. Each nut guide comes with a default spacing and is designed for the following string gauges: E = 0.053, A = 0.042, D = 0.032, G = 0.024, b = 0.016, and e = 0.012. ** Item shown is a custom nut guide with length 44.5mm, 6.4mm string spacing, and designed for string gauges: E = 0.056, A = 0.046, D = 0.032, G = 0.024, b = 0.016, and e = 0.012. ** The vise, slotting file, and nut is not included in this listing. They are used for demonstration purposes only. A custom option is available by selecting the “Custom” length option. ** Note: Currently, only for 4, 5, 6, or 7 string instruments. **For custom orders, please include the following in a message: 1. String gauges (in inches) for your instrument. For example: E = 0.056, A = 0.046, D = 0.032, G = 0.024, b = 0.016, e = 0.012 2. Neck width (in millimeters). For example: 44.5 mm 3. Desired spacing between strings (in millimeters). For example: 6.4 mm 4. If you require equal string spacing based on your current instrument, please provide the following measurement (in millimeters): Distance between inner edges of outer strings (see pictures in listing). 5. Nut Height (in millimeters) 6. (Optional) Nut Width (in millimeters) How to use: ** Note: This guide is intended to create "starter" slots before completing the final setup. 1. Place your guitar nut on the guide. Note the orientation of the string gauges marked on the guide. 2. Secure the guide and the nut on a vise. 3. Choose the appropriate slotting file. Each slot is designed for use with smaller gauge files to create "starter" slots. For example, a string gauge of 0.053 (low E string, etc.) would require a 0.046 file or the next gauge down (A string gauge). The thinnest slots are designed for use with 0.010 to 0.012 slotting files. 4. Once starter slots have been created, place the nut on the neck of the guitar or instrument. Complete the setup by slotting the nut to its final width and depth using the appropriate slotting files.
