Description: The superb Oxford Diecast 1/43 Austin Heavy 12/4 in maroon & black.The model, (Oxford Diecast no.AHT002) measures 3 3/4" (95mm) in length, & is presented on a display plinth with a clear display case & card sleeve.It is new, mint & boxed.Launched in 1921, it was the second of Herbert Austin's post WWI models and until it ceased production in 1939, over 88,000 were produced. It was initially available as a Tourer with four seat and two/four seat styles, both costing £550, as well as a coupe version which cost slightly more at £675. The car was highly popular during the 1920s and while the mechanical specifications did not change very much, there were several body styles of the 'Heavy 12' including a taxi option which lasted until the end of the 1930s. Body style variations included the replacement of fabric-covered 'pram hood' tops in 1931 and no open cars at all after 1934. The wheels also had a makeover when the solid wheels became spoked wheels in 1933. In 1940, the War Department took the last of the 12/4 cars that Austin produced.The second release on the new Oxford tooling, this elegant replica of the Austin Heavy 12/4 is presented in another authentic colour scheme.The 1:43 scale model, registered DD 9467, is presented in the raised soft top version, with maroon & black body. It has the post 1933 spoked wheels of the original. The interior with its exceptional level of detail, has brown seats with interior panels finished in grey. The dashboard is complete with intricate instrument detail in silver and black steering wheel. Rounding off a very luxurious vehicle, all exterior 'brightwork' is finished in silver.
