Description: A rare hand signed copy of the in itself very uncommon 1st printing/1st state of this acclaimed novel from multi-award-winning American author, writer and poet Percival Everett, who also serves as a Professor of English at the University of Southern California. He has been releasing books since the early 1980's; earlier works include 'Erasure ', 'Wounded ' and 'I Am Not Sidney Poitier '. This book was named on the 2022 Booker Prize Shortlist and was considered a strong contender for the prize but not the favourite. His latest award-winning novel 'James ' was the clear favourite with critics, reviewers and the bookmakers for the 2024 Booker Prize but was denied. 'The Trees ', published by Influx Press in London on 24 March 2022, 1st UK edition/1st state, standard modern paperback original, 337 pages + 5 pages of publisher ads at the rear. Flat hand signed by Percival Everett in black felt pen at the title page. In fine unread condition, no markings or inscriptions and no spine creasing. This book is the 1st state of the 1st printing of this UK edition, which simply shows 'This edition 2022' on the copyright page, does not feature the Booker Prize logo on the front panel, and the quote on the rear panel is from Ronan Hession, rather than the later quote from a Daily Telegraph review. ** SHORTLISTED FOR THE BOOKER PRIZE 2022 ** The Trees is a page-turner that opens with a series of brutal murders in the rural town of Money, Mississippi.
