You're looking at an excellent condition book which is a classic 1926 German novel based on the life of JOSEPH SUSS OPPENHEIMER and written by LION FEUCHTWANGER and translated from the German by WILLA & EDWIN MUIR--the book is better known by the title Jud Suss. The book is a beautiful Modern Library copy published as #206 with a flexible Cloth Cover in 1926 (it's a VERY early printing, possibly a First U.S. Edition) and has no dustjacket. This book is in excellent condition and has a very light forward list of the spine edge, light sunning (fading) on the spine edge, a few very small discolored spots and very light scuffs on the surfaces of the cloth cover, a tiny discolored spot on the center back opening page edge and just very light shelfwear and very light evidence of gentle browsing but no other significant flaws! The book is titled Power (Jud Suss) and it was written by LION FEUCHTWANGER and translated by WILLA & EDWIN MUIR; it was published by The Modern Library / The Viking Press in 1926 and is Book #206 in the Modern Library series.This novel tells the story of a Jewish businessman, Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, who, because of his exceptional talent for finance & politics, becomes the top advisor for the Duke of Württemberg. Surrounded by jealous & hateful enemies, Süß helps the Duke create a corrupt state that involves them both in immense wealth and power.
