Description: Jose Garcia Payon In 1929, he was honored as the head of the Department of Archaeology of the State Government of Mexico. He began archaeological explorations in Tecaxic-Calixtlahuaca between 1930 and 1938 of paying special attention to the monumental architecture. He made excavations at Matlatzinca and Malinalco and later at the Center Veracruz, particularly in Cempoala, El Tajin and Huaxteca, to mark the paths of the future archaeological research in these regions, setting the theoretical foundations of their cultural development to the extent that photographic library today bears his name.
