Description: This gorgeous and rare Cusick-signed Sylvan line bowl is a real treasure for collectors! Hate to part with this one. It is in fabulous condition, especially considering its age. A.L. Cusick, who was the celebrated designer for Brush-McCoy for roughly the first half of the 20th century (1908-1946), designed this beloved Sylvan or Woodland pattern in 1912. My research indicates that this particular piece dates from 1918. The bowl features a rich emerald-green glaze, and depicts stately trees with a fence and hills in the background. It is marked with the number 93 and signed “Cusick” near the base (see photos #6 and 9) -- apparently his practice was to sign the first 100 pieces made. It is approximately 2.25” high and 5.75” across. And the bowl is in impeccable shape: some very gentle crazing, but no other post-production flaws at all. A couple of discreet kiln cracks under the glaze just add to the vintage charm. (See photos.) At about 106 years old -- amazing to find a functional bowl of this age in such fantastic condition! This offering is part of our slow-motion estate sale -- Mother collected McCoy for about 40 years, with all periods represented in her vast collection, so let us know if you are looking for a particular McCoy piece. Each item will be meticulously cleaned and shipped with the utmost care. We try to use all recycled/reused boxes and packing materials, so the box you receive may not be beautiful, but rest assured, your item is safe! (I used to ship eggs from our farm, as far as Alaska!) Hoping to find good homes for Mom's treasures!
