Whiting Company taken from the Northwest Museum website: Frank M. Whiting Co. began making silverware in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1878, when it was known as Holbrook, Whiting & Albee. The firm was changed to F.M. Whiting & Co. (1878), F.M. Whiting (1891), F.M. Whiting Co. (1895), and Frank M. Whiting & Co., (1896). The company became a division of Ellmore Silver Co. in 1940, and that firm went out of business around 1960. Crown Silver Co. of New York later acquired the Whiting dies. The company mark of a griffon and a shield with a W was used up to 1896, and later a W in a circle flanked by stylized leaves.
