Description: If you collect rare early lighting antiques don't miss this fantastic one of a kind very olde single taper large Shaker or Puritan church candle mold. It was used to make large candles that would be burned during important ceremonies or for Sunday services. It's fantastic in person and the pics don't even come close to showing you just how wonderful the details are on it but please take time to study them and grab your tape measure to see how the size compares to other ones you've seen that are more common. The Coke can is for size reference only and is not part of this sale. This early mold measures about 16 inches tall with the pouring top piece measuring in at 4 1/2 across to catch the excess wax. It makes a candle that tapers from about 1 1/4 inches down to about an inch wide at the wick end. As you can see it's very unusual for sure and in all my 40+ years of collecting early lighting and many one of a kind Shaker items I've never seen anything that compares to this one. It's all hand made with meticulous detail and the edges and seams are just perfect. It was handcrafted by a very skilled tinsmith for many years of use and it's definitely an oldie from the 1800's or maybe even earlier. The patina on the metal finish is just right too. It's an amazing find if you collect the oddities or need one for an early lighting museum display or to use in a living history venue. It's still totally useable and will make some wonderful olde style candles for you to enjoy using or for selling.
