Description: This 19th c. Royal Crown Derby hand painted plate features the Aesthetic Movement in all its glory. The central image is an off-center view of Venice from a sailboat. The colorful sail in the foreground creates a depth of perception while the background is decorated with seascape, mountains and skyline. The border is decorated with a rich cobalt blue border highlighted with raised paste gold crabs, fish, lobsters and sea creatures as well as polychrome enamel seaweed. Truly unusual and rare this will be the highlight of your display. Retailed by Gilman, Collamore & Co. NY. Ca. 1890-1900. The plate measures 9" in diameter.
