Description: Sterling, KS 2 Cabinet Cards, women in white blouses, c. 1900 by E.K. Porter These two cabinet cards have obviously been stored together, as one has the image of the other on the reverse. Each woman is wearing a white blouse with high collar and has her hair pulled off of her face. Perhaps they are in the same family, but the cards appear to have been made at different times because they are slightly different in design. Ellis Kepler Porter (1860-1936) was a photographer in Sterling, KS from about 1889 through 1930. Lovely shots of both women. Yellowing to images. Slight curve to cards. Soiling to images and cards. Edge wear to both cards. No back prints. Cards measure about 6.5 x 4.25 inches, and image is about 5.5 x 3.75 inches. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.
