The book deals with Napoleon’s exile on the island of St. Helena, portraying his daily life and the life of his household, his relations with Hudson Lowe, governor of the island, the petty quarrels that went on among the four men, and the wives of two of them, who accompanied Napoleon into exile on St. Helena and his death. The books hardcover shows some light wear but is in very, very good overall condition. The edges of the books pages have a few light marks and the top corner of 27 pages have a small indentation and slight inward bend. A name written near the upper edge of the front inside cover page has been obscured by the markings of a ballpoint pen. The books pages are otherwise in excellent condition without damage and without any other marks of any type. The dust jacket shows age related wear and has a number of tears along its edges.
