Description: THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE PLAN OF SALVATION by James Barr Walker____________________________Hardcover no dust jacket; 244 pages; Size Approx. 5 X 7 1/2.Published by The Religious Tract Society; undated.Details: "The Philosophy of the Plan of Salvation by James B. Walker is a discussion on the fundamental facts about God’s dealing with the human race throughout history, to convince the rational reader that the religion of the Bible is from God and is uniquely adapted to produce the greatest good for mankind. Some readers have called this book the best apologetic of the Christian faith that they have read.""James Barr Walker was an American writer and lecturer. He is best known for his popular book, The Philosophy of the Plan of Salvation. This book is a guide of the Christian life. It is presented in a very readable and easy-to-understand format. In short, it is an attempt to present what he believes is correct doctrine on all of the major doctrines of Christianity from the beginning of the Christian era onwards."From the Preface:"During some of the first years of the writer’s active life, he was a skeptic; he had a friend who has since become well known as a lawyer and legislator, who was also skeptical in his opinions. We were both conversant with the common evidences of Christianity. None of them convinced our minds of the Divine origin of the Christian religion, although we both thought ourselves willing to be convinced by sufficient evidence. Circumstances, which need not be named, led the writer to examine the Bible, and to search for other evidence than that which had been commended to his attention by a much-esteemed clerical friend, who presided in one of our colleges. The result of the examination was a thorough conviction in the author’s mind of the truth and Divine authority of Christianity. He supposed at that time that, in his inquiries, he had adopted the only true method to settle the question, in the minds of all intelligent inquirers, in relation to the Divine origin of the Christian religion. Subsequent reflection has confirmed this opinion."A fine addition for your bookshelf!Condition: A little wear, endpapers cracked at the hinges but the hinges are firm, end pages tanned and inclined to chip easily, otherwise in good condition with a solid binding and clean pages. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.Delivery:We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
