Description: For sale is one incredibly preserved prone specimen of Flexicalymene retrorsa, a trilobite known for its incredible detail preserved on its fragile exoskeleton. These “proliferations” are visible on this exceptional, complete specimen. This trilobite was collected at the famous Mount Orab locality in Ohio, found in an exposure of the Arnheim Member of the Richmond Formation. This locality is world-famous for its incredible preservation and proliferation of trilobite fossils. Though trilobite fossils are found in droves at this locality, prone examples with such excellent preservation are uncommon. There is a slight curvature present but none of the trilobite is buried nor concealed. There are fossilized remains of a larger trilobite species present in the matrix, namely thoracic segments and an internal mold of a pygidium. Trilobite is prone and 1 in / 2.5 cm long on a 6 x 6 cm matrix.
