We can see it here on the Oregon coast--a little less rain, a bit warmer temperatures, and the sounds of ATV's and dune-buggies roaring away behind us in the sand dunes. I grew up in Oregon, before moving to Nebraska as a young married lady. We moved back here 5 years ago, so that we can play in the sand and cool sunshine, the brisk Pacific waters, to slow down and just enjoy our lives. We haven't done much slowing down, but we are enjoying ourselves and getting to know new people! My eBay business was due, in large part, to my wish to reach out to other people around the country and the world, as well as indulging my interest in vintage and antique jewelry. This brooch looks like a burst of beautiful silvery grey and clear rhinestones, in a bright silver-tone layered and riveted setting, with prong-set rhinestones. It doesn't show any wear, so it is difficult to tell the age. It does look well made and to use decent quality materials. I don't know if I started the trend of calling this style of brooch an Atomic burst, or if some-one else did, but I have seen Atomic Star-burst, Atomic Snow-burst, or just Atomic Burst used by myself and many other sellers. They did come of age in the post-atomic era following World War II, and they do encompass some basic tenets of good design, such as using sturdy construction techniques, and decent materials, as well as being made to last. The brooch measures 1 7/8 inches in diameter.All items, upon sale, are individually wrapped, packaged securely to avoid damage during shipping, then shipped via USPS First Class mail. The rate has gone up about 50 cents per package; I try to keep my rates down and my prices low, but I am going to start charging shipping on my items again--I have cut the ra"tes for shipping down about 50% of what I used to charge--I will now be paying for the insurance and the packaging, and my customer will pay the actual postage cost. I will still have free shipping on many items--it will depend on whether I can make any profit on the item--if I get items at a low price, I usually pass the savings on to my customers with free shipping, and my lower prices. All vintage items will sustain a normal amount of wear, due to the passage of time--even an unused item can age due to factors such as temperature, humidity, and handling. Items listed as in great to excellent vintage condition will not necessarily look like new, and unless I state that an item is in pristine or mint condition, you will expect to see some indication that an item is not new. If I can tell that a repair has been made, I will tell you in the listing. Do not expect complete perfection unless that is expressly stated. Also, if you are bidding or planning to bid on more than one item to take advantage of the great savings in shipping costs, you will need to contact me to let me know. I am happy to combine shipping separate lots, but I am not a mind reader, nor is it easy to tell, unless the bidding is ended, whether a buyer is involved in more than one bid, unless they are winning.
