Description: Vintage Paul Conner Oil Painting Description and Item Information Up for sale is this framed, vintage oil on board painting by the listed California artist, Paul Conner Please excuse the glare in the photos. This impressionist painting depicts a rocky landscape with trees and mountains. The sight area measures approximately 15 3/8 inches by 19 1/4 inches. This has a gold-finished, wooden frame. The exterior frame measurements are approximately 20 9/16 inches by 24 1/2 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 4 pounds 5.7 ounces. This would make a great addition to a collection of vintage California fine art. Identification The painting is by Paul Conner (1881-1968), a listed artist on askART. The exact age of this vintage piece is not known. Per askART, Conner was born in Richmond, Indiana. He was artistically and musically inclined from an early age. He played clarinet in the Indianapolis Symphony. Conner studied painting with Albert C. Conner and Henry L. Richter after moving to Long Beach, California in 1919. Later, he taught small painting classes from his ocean front studio; he also took painting trips into the southern California deserts in search of subject inspiration. Conner died in Long Beach. He was a member of Laguna Beach Art Association, Long Beach Art Association, and Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles. Examples of his work are held by the Athletic Club of Los Angeles, the Deauville Club of Santa Monica, and the Ebell Club of Los Angeles. Condition This piece looks very good overall, as shown. The frame has light wear overall. The back of the board is as shown, with some nail scrapes near the edges from previous framing. This piece of art is ready to hang and enjoy, in my opinion.
