Description: This is a huge bottle of Caron's "Pour un Homme" fragrance for men. There is no indication of original amount, but it appears to be at least 500 ml originally. The fragrance appears to date from the 1940's to 50's with the designation "Les Plus Belles Lavandes" associated with older fragrances, as well as a picture of a crown. The unusual aspect to this item is that the bottle was made by Carven of Paris, a prominent competitor, and the bottle is the design for one of their premier fragrances "Ma Griffe", initiated in 1945. Why they used this bottle is a mystery, but it could have been related to bottle shortages due to WWII. Mere speculation but an interesting theory. It adds an interesting twist for a collector to consider. The bottle is 4.5" tall to the shoulder, 3" square, and 7" tall to top of the stopper. The bottle weighs 2.25 lbs. I selected Eau de Parfum as the type, but I do not know for sure what strength this vintage scent is. Since it is apparently old, it could be parfum, but that is only a guess. I acquired this item at a Washington, DC estate sale many years ago. and have kept it in a dark location. I never attempted to loosen the stopper which is on good & tight, as I never intended to use the scent, but only admire it for the bottle. I am sure it can be loosened with hot water, acetone, or whatever other trick, but at this point, it is safer to leave it alone for shipping purposes. The bottom of the bottle has etched "Carven Paris Made in France."
