Description: This is a nice lot of EIGHT Vintage 1891-1930's Eaton Rapids, Michigan items. A hand written personal letter dated 1891 from the U of M (University of Michigan Literary Department); an 1879 Village of Eaton Rapids Marshal's Office dated 1879 for the receipt of $8.00 for 24 acres; a 1904 letter from the Washington Bureau of National Literature and Art regarding the Publishers Clearing House and a and a 1906 Invitation to a recital at the Eaton Rapids Opera House. It also includes an original Souvenir and Official Program for the Eaton Rapids Centennial and Homecoming held on August 20-23, 1936. Paper wraps: 24 pages with the history and program of events. There's a a front-page of the Eaton Rapids Review, a Political Newspaper, dealing with the Water Power Political Fight (22" x 15") in large format and a smaller Flysheet Poster (12.5" x 7.25") dealing with the same subject. A third poster/flysheet is also large, 11.75" X 17" and blares CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, naming names, deceptive mayor and lawsuit. Apparently, there was a big political battle regarding water power with a lot of name calling (City Officials Are Liars). Great read.
